Anyone advertising pet services in the UK must follow relevant regulations & ensure services are offered safely, legally, & clearly.
General service advertising rules
- Adverts must clearly describe the service being offered
- All advertisers must be over the age of 16
- Business name or provider details must be accurate
- Contact must remain through Freeads initially
- Misleading or exaggerated claims are not allowed
- Services must be legal to provide in the UK
- Prices or pricing structure should be clear where possible
Licensing & legal requirements
Some pet services require licences or qualifications. These must be declared in the advert.
This may include:
- Dog breeding or boarding
- Dog daycare services
- Animal transport services
Where required:
- A valid local authority licence number must be shown
- Any relevant insurance or certification should be stated
Welfare & safety rules
- Services must prioritise animal welfare at all times
- No harmful, unsafe, or illegal practices allowed
- Pets & animals must be handled appropriately & safely
- Facilities must be clean, secure, & suitable for the service
- Transport services must meet welfare standards
Prohibited services
The following must not be advertised:
- Illegal animal sales or transport
- Unlicensed breeding or boarding services
- Services involving banned breeds or species
- Any activity that promotes harm or poor welfare
